Family

From the time a child is born . . .

until they graduate from high school, you'll have 940 weekends.

If your child is in Kindergarten, you have 637 left.
If your child is in Grade 3, you have 469 left.
If your child is in Grade 5, you have 364 left.
If your child is in Grade 9, you have 208 left.
If your child is in Grade 12, you already know how few you have left.

What are you going to do this weekend?
You have a short window of time before your child becomes a teenager - it happens fast!

There are 5 things every child needs between now and when they graduate:

1. A really big God they can trust no matter what.
     - We want to partner with you to help your child grow up knowing God is big enough to
     handle anything.

2. Someone else who believes what they believe.
     - The friends your children spend time with will ultimately influence the decisions they
     make in life.

3. Another voice saying the same things as their parents.
     - Our leaders connect with your children as friends and mentors.

4. Uncommon sense to help them make wise decisions.
     - We make sure the Bible is never boring. Each week, children walk away with one more
truth about God that they can remember forever.

5. Nosy parents who know where there children are spiritually.
     - We know that what happens at home is more important than what happens at church.
So, we want to equip parents with tools to build faith and character in their sons and
     daughters.

940 weekends.
That is why every week is so important to us.

"And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man."
                                                                              [Luke 2:52]

Basic Truths:
     1. I can trust God no matter what.
     2. I can make the wise choice.
     3. I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

Partnering With Families

At Southview we seek to design a strategy that combines the family with the faith community to demonstrate the message of God's story, in order to influence the next generation.

We believe that two combined influences are greater than just 2 influences on their own. So at Southview, we define family ministry as
synchronizing the efforts of church leaders and parents around a plan to help build faith and character in their sons and daughters.

Our Children's and Youth Ministry environments are only part of something bigger! We really believe that what parents do at home becomes more important than what happens here at Southview. We want to partner with you, the parents, to help engage in meaningful dialogue with your children about faith and character at home. Our Parent Fuel pages offer more information and resources aimed at helping you keep the dialogue going.
