Compassion & Care

Our desire is to express the compassion of Christ by reaching out to our community and world in both word and action. We desire to be a place of refuge for the hurting. Compassion & Care is all about caring for our community and church family in tangible, practical ways. It is about putting other first, about intentionally looking for ways to help out without expecting anything in return. It is about being the hands and feet of Jesus for others.

Role of the Parish Nurse
A parish nurse is a registered nurse who provides a health care ministry suited to the needs and mission of the congregation. She is an educator, counsellor, advisor and advocate for members of the congregation when health and wellness issues arise. A commitment to Jesus Christ as Saviour, Lord and Healer allows a blending of spiritual care with professional nursing experience, thus linking faith and health.

Jayne Burnham is Southview's Director of Compassion & Care Ministry / Parish Nurse. Besides offering 1-on-1 support to individuals and families facing health challenges, she is responsible for organizing and working with the many volunteers and staff involved in Compassion & Care Ministries. our large volunteer base allows the church to reach out and provide practical help to a larger number of people in our church and our community.
