Story

With over 30 years of history behind it, Southview remains focused on the message of new life with God that is available through Jesus Christ. When Calgary's south Fish Creek area was still mainly just farmland, Southview began ministering to the needs of its surrounding community.

Today, south Calgary alone is home to over 400,000 people. Southview is committed to spiritual and social renewal in Calgary through living out the good news of Jesus. We love partnering with others in that goal. We support local renewal and relief enterprises such as the Mustard Seed - a charity that works to help those in need of food and shelter in Calgary, and Inn from the Cold - which provides basic food and accommodation for our city's homeless. We also support other Christ-followers in regions around the world from China to Niger to Nicaragua.

Southview started meeting as a Christian community in September 1979. They first met at Prince of Wales School in Parkland. Southview moved to it's current Evergreen property on James McKevitt Road in 1982.

The new millennium found Southview looking for a new direction to allow for continued growth and ministry, purchasing property for development. The new Southview property is located in the future development of Providence, five minutes west of Macleod Trail on Highway 22x.

Southview initiated a satellite worship service in 2006 with the desire of providing an alternative worship gathering for our community. This gathering, our imago dei campus, meets at Glenmore Christian Academy in Bridlewood.  Then, in 2009, our Mosaic gathering began meeting on Sunday evenings.

Our imago dei, Mosaic and Evergreen gatherings minister as one church, with one mission, in two locations. With over 1700 people now attending our weekend services, Southview's heart continues to be to reach out in word and action with good news of life in Christ.
