Mission

Good News
Our purpose as a community is to demonstrate God's goodness and greatness by communicating the message of Jesus Christ in word and action. The message of Jesus Christ is good news, or 'gospel'. We believe it's a message of hope which crosses all the divides of history and society.

Historical
The Christian faith is anchored in the life and words of Jesus - in past writings; but . . . 

Contemporary
 . . . because the gospel is truth for all people, in all times, and in all places, we believe it's not stuck in the past. It is always contemporary. Our desire is to present and live out this gospel in a way which resonates with the culture and concerns of present-day individuals and families.

Heartbeat
This good news of Jesus - that He is the pathway to life in the kingdom of God - is the heartbeat of all we do as a church. It's our focus when we try to understand the Bible and follow its guidance. It's the hope that guides us in our relationships, worship and journeys through life.

Relationship
We believe that Jesus still invites us, not to religion, but to a living relationship with God. Our gatherings are therefore focused on learning how to walk in relationship with God and each other.

Grace
At Southview we recognize that we live among a diversity of beliefs in our communities. We want to communicate the gospel with goodwill and 'grace' as Jesus did. So we welcome questions, objections and discussion.

Community
We have deep convictions about community. We believe church is experienced and understood more fully when it provides opportunities beyond weekly attendance. Community is encouraged by offering mid-week small groups and other gathering places for those who wish to attend.
