Meet Our Staff

Clyde Glass - Senior Pastor
Clyde has served as Southview's Senior Pastor since 1998. Flowing from his own spiritual journey, he has a deep passion for sharing about God's love, grace and the pathway of hope found in Jesus Christ. He completed graduate studies at Wheaton College and Marquette University, where he received a Ph.D. in Theology. Clyde and his wife Jillian have two children: their son Taylor and daughter Alexandra.


Stan Wiens - Senior Leader
Stan and his wife, Cathi, joined the Southview team in the fall of 2008. His primary role is to lead the staff team effectively in focused ministry development. His passion is to build and support a strong and unified team that longs to see the mission of the church accomplished. He also enjoys running marathons and triathlons. Stan and Cathi have three teenagers: Bobby, Derek and Emily.

Robb Penner - imago dei Campus Pastor
Robb served on staff at Southview as the Jr. High Youth Pastor for 6 years before stepping into his current role of Campus Pastor at Southview's imago dei weekend service.  In Spring 2012, he completed a Masters of Arts in Christian Studies at Ambrose Seminary in Calgary. Robb is married to Melissa and they have two young children, Malia and Cedar. 

Jayne Burnham - Pastor of Compassion & Care / Women's Ministries
Jayne has been on staff at Southview since 2001, overseeing the various ministries that express compassion and care to our congregation and surrounding community. She also directs the Women's Ministries leadership team. Jayne, and her husband, Mark, have attended Southview for many years, along with their three grown children and their spouses as well as three grandchildren! Jayne is a graduate of the U of C Faculty of Nursing & has a background in maternal-child and community nursing.

Kelly Ens - Mosaic Campus Pastor
Kelly joined the Southview team in July 2007. Raised in Calgary, he completed a Master of Counseling at ACTS Seminary and then served as an Associate Pastor in Prince Rupert, BC for 5 years before returning home. His desire is to build relationships, and assist individuals to both embrace and extend Christ's love and forgiveness. Kelly married Jenn in 2006, and they enjoy playing 7 Wonders, eating sushi, and playing with their two young children, Rachel and Aaron.

Brett Ashton - Pastor of Worship & the Arts
Brett and his wife, Kristen, joined the Southview team in June 2009. He graduated from Rocky Mountain College in 2007 with a BA in Music. Brett has toured most of North America with a variety of groups - and previously sang the role of Tamino in Mozart's "The Magic Flute" in Lancaster, CA. He enjoys all genres of music - though he has a soft spot for Sting and James Taylor. Brett is passionate about seeing worship in all art forms - and seeing a community growing and worshiping together. Brett and Kristen became proud parents in 2010 to their little guy, Oliver.

Shawn Baran - Associate Pastor of Worship & the Arts
Shawn joined the Southview team in the summer of 2011. He loves music and film and engages with both to portray beauty and lead hearts towards a deeper desire for God. Like Brett, he enjoys all genres of music, but his soft spots are for Peter Gabriel and Glen Phillips. Shawn met his wife, Sara, at Rocky Mountain Bible College while completing his Bachelors Degree in Music. They have two beautiful daughters, Anna and Saria. In his spare time, Shawn enjoys cycling, video games, and dancing with his girls.

Sam Seifert - Pastor of Family Ministries
Sam joined the Southview team in the fall of 2009. He grew up in eastern Montana and went to school at Prairie Bible College in Three Hills, AB. While pursuing his aviation career at Prairie, God intersected his life and led him into pastoral ministry. He has a deep passion to see our community embrace a more holistic idea of what it means to be a Christ follower and believes that the church must become a catalyst and environment for genuine and sustainable spiritual transformation. Sam met his wife, Camie, at school and they now have two beautiful daughters, Ava and Sydney. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports and traveling.

Godwin Tsang - Pastor of Jr. High Ministries
Godwin was born in Hong Kong, moved to Canada with his family when he was just 9 months old, and has lived here ever since. Godwin previously served as a youth intern at Southview and is excited to now serve full-time with our Jr. High students. Godwin holds a Bachelors Degree in Communication and Culture from the University of Calgary and is currently finishing a Masters Degree through Ambrose University. Godwin and his wife, Marie, were married in 2007 and the couple now have a young daughter, Alexa. In his spare time, Godwin enjoys playing soccer and hockey, reading, playing the occasional video game, and spending time with family.

Robin Johnson - Pastor of Sr. High Youth

Since 2004, Robin has served as the High School Pastor. He is a graduate of Rocky Mountain College with a BA in Religion and Youth Ministry. Robin has lived in Calgary for 19 years and enjoys watching football and being a part of the Southpaw Boxing Club. Robin and his wife Jody have two children, Jamin and Mya. His relaxation time is spent driving out to Bragg Creek with his wife for a coffee, enjoying activities with his kids, and going for walks with the family dog.

Triana Kowalko - Pastor of Children's Ministries
Triana grew up in Mexico City and moved to Calgary in 2000. She volunteered in Children's Ministry for many years and discovered a deep-rooted passion for teaching children about God's love. In her role at Southview, Triana not only aims to make children feel valued, but also works to equip parents so that they can encourage their children to walk daily with Jesus. Triana holds a Bachelors Degree in Education from Warner Pacific College. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, playing board games and being outside and most of all, spending time with her husband, Caleb.

Fernando Ebanks - Pastor of Small Groups
Fernando grew up in the Cayman Islands and moved to Atlanta at the age of 19 to join a discipleship program called Mission UDC. After two years in this program, he returned to the Cayman Islands to work as a Youth Pastor and met his wife, Robin, originally from Calgary. After a few years, the couple married and moved to Cleveland TN where Fernando worked as the Assistant Director of Mission UDC for several years. Now settled in Calgary, Fernando is excited about his role on the Southview team. His desire is to create an environment where people are encouraged and equipped to live out authentic community and experience accountability and belonging. Fernando holds a Bachelors Degree in Pentecostal Studies and a Masters Degree in Family and Marriage Counselling. In his spare time, he enjoys camping, running, cycling, traveling, spending time with his family and, like any Calgarian, watching the Flames.


Sherill Thirsk - Agapeland Director
Sherrill directed the Agapeland Preschool for 13 years at another location prior to moving with the preschool to Southview in 2005. She received a Bachelor of Religious Education from Canadian Bible College and a B.Ed. from the University of Calgary. Sherrill is married to Rich and has two sons.
