It’s been a minute since we shared some art from our community and today we’re thrilled to bring this back! Nick Roblin shares two of his pieces with us in this post. We encourage you to take a minute to enjoy Nick’s creativity, along with his eloquent and thorough notes on each piece.
Ministry Spotlight | Community Hub
Back in the summer we shared about our Community Hub initiative. Since then you’ve likely seen mention of some of the seminars and event, but we wanted to take a moment to spotlight how these things weave together to create a larger tapestry of community engagement and support. Our vision for the Community Hub is to help people thrive in their communities through creating space for wholistic health, connection, and support. Here is how we’ve been doing that over the last two months…
Ministry Spotlight | SAC Kids Onsite and Online
A month ago we added our Sunday, 9AM gathering back into our weekends to help create space at our 11AM gathering as we continue to navigate current capacity restrictions. And while the initial 9AM re-launch didn’t include kids programs, all of that changed last weekend!
Midweek Worship | Sole to Soul – A Prayer Walk
For this week’s midweek worship, we would like to share a beautiful prayer walk for reconciliation. “Sole to Soul” was developed by the Wechetowin ministry of the Diocese of Rupert’s Land as part of their Indigenous Learning Journey. We are honoured to share this guide with you and hope it will prompt reflection in your own walk.
Art from our Community | Mark Michaud
Today we’re honoured to share some more art from our community. Today’s photos of these sweeping vistas come to us courtesy of Mark Michaud, staff member and long-time Southview attendee. Here he is to tell us a bit more about his piece:
Midweek Worship | Prayers of the People
This past weekend, Shawn lead us in prayers of the people at our services. Let’s take a moment now to reflect on these prayers and the great hope we have in that simple refrain: “Lord, hear our prayer.”
Midweek Worship | Prayers for Ordinary Time
During each week of Ordinary Time, our gatherings begin with a video to draw us together into a collective posture of worship. The video itself has many images that we hope will prompt different thoughts, feelings, ideas and responses that can illuminate what God may be inviting us into during this season. For this week’s Midweek Worship, we’ve invited a handful of our pastors and staff to reflect and meditate on a single image from the Gathering Video and to respond with a prayer for this Ordinary Time. These prayers come from Brett, Mary, Jesus, James and Fernando.
Midweek Worship | Psalm 23 Meditation
“O Lord, our Shepherd, you have led us into spacious places, where we find living water and rest for our souls.”
We offer you this visual meditation, not as a piece of content to keep up with, but as an invitation for you to take a moment to be still. Give yourself the gift of a moment to breathe. And when the visual meditation is done, allow yourself to linger with it, listening, before returning to all that this day has for you.
Reflections on Truth & Reconciliation
There are moments when God speaks to us in powerful ways that challenge our assumptions or maybe just shake us up a bit. The discovery of the unmarked grave of 215 children on the grounds of a former residential school in Kamloops has been one of those moments.
